Hi, I'm Julian

I'm an Executive Coach and Consultant based in London in the UK. For over 25 years, I have been helping businesses become better governed, managed and led through improving accountability structures, operational alignment, regulatory oversight and leadership development.

I was an insatiably curious kid, asking 'what', 'why' and 'how' more times than I care to mention. This curiosity for learning led me into university, then into technology firms and, on into financial services for over 20 years where I provided consulting and in-house services for a range of global companies. Most recently, I continue to be a consultant to global companies and, since 2023, I am an alumni of the world-renowned Henley Business School's Centre for Coaching.

I help executives, leaders, entrepreneurs and businesses in periods of transition and change. I do this through provision of both coaching and consulting practices.

The image is of Newlands Valley in the Lake District. It is a very expansive view of hills and mountains and it is here due to Julian Dench discussing his strengths which are about perspective, creativity and leadership, which mountainous views often illicit feelings of.

Who I am

We are all unique.  We all bring our own strengths to help us approach, consider and overcome the problems and challenges in our lives. I like to call these strengths our 'superpowers', as they come so easily to us we are often not even fully aware of them.

Whether I am coaching someone, or whether it is a consulting assignment, I use the same core strengths to create value for others:

  • Perspective: being able to provide wise counsel to others; having ways of looking at the world that creates value for others; the ability to 360 a problem easily.

  • Creativity: thinking of new and novel ways to conceptualise ideas or complete tasks.

  • Curiosity: an interest in learning and exploring (ideas, places, situations); approaching problems with wonder and being fascinated with their resolution.

  • Appreciation of excellence: striving for excellence and valuing the highly skilled performance of others; appreciating the beauty in the world.

  • Leadership: encouraging individuals or groups to get things done. Championing others to follow a common vision. Building a healthy team, system or community.

When I am not coaching or consulting, I am a busy father, partner, sports lover, nature and outdoor enthusiast. In my leisure time, I love to be in the great outdoors walking, running, cycling, swimming, or playing golf or tennis (to varying degrees of success).

If you would like to discuss any area of development or project with me, or benefit more from your own strengths, please set up a discovery call below.
